Aaron Jones Sr.

Inglewood, California

Aaron Joseph Hassan Jones made his grand entrance into this world on October 5, 1973, in Harbor City, California. He was the second born of three children from the union of John Jones and Cynthia Jones (Lewis).

Aaron was a very well-rounded person. As a child he enjoyed being a member of the Boy Scouts of America. He also played tee ball and flag football. Born into a God-fearing family, Aaron gave his life to Christ at an early age and was baptized on January 25, 1975, in the presence of his godparents Tommy Martinez and Sara Calderon Winn. He later became a member of Bible Enrichment Fellowship International Church under the leadership of Dr. Beverly Bam Crawford.

Aaron attended John Muir Elementary School, Holy Family Grammar School, Malvern Junior High (Arkansas), Malvern High School, and Banning High School. He earned a GED certificate. Aaron became a CNA and worked for Longmeadow Nursing Home in Malvern, Arkansas. He dabbled in stand-up comedy at local venues. He also worked in the deli at Ralph’s and Stater Brothers markets. Later in life, he attended Mt. San Jacinto College where he served as a student mentor at the Learning Resource Center, served as a greeter for the school, and was an active member in UMOJA. In addition, he was a recipient of a scholar award at the 2023 A2MEND conference which he was immensely proud to share with family and friends. Aaron was well liked and quite popular on campus. He was scheduled to complete his studies in Spring 2024. Aaron then planned to transfer to Cal State University at San Marcos to earn his bachelor’s degree.

Aaron had a huge presence and personality that left an impression on anyone he met. He was the type of person you could meet one time and never forget. Aaron had a deep love of his children and was proud of the time he spent raising them. Aaron will be fondly remembered for his vivid stories, quick wit, sense of humor, amazing memory, ability to make friends, determination to improve himself and self-acceptance. He had plans to write a book about his life so the world could be entertained by his stories.

On August 9, 2023, Aaron was called home to be with the Lord at the age of 49. Though it leaves a hole in our lives, the Lord has determined that his mission on earth is complete. Aaron was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.

He leaves to cherish his memories his parents, Cynthia Lewis and John Jones; five children, Erin, Jana, Arieana, Aaron Jr. and D’Aaron Jones; two stepsons Mister and Sir Brian Merriweather; sisters LaTima, Haniyyah and Agena Jones; five grandchildren Howard Thornton Jr., Koddah and Loyalty Jones, LaMya Williams and Denzell Middleton Jr., wife Sharmeka Bentley, and a host of nieces, a nephew, relatives and friends.
