Maudell Archibald

On Tuesday, January 10, 2023, after she had sojourned here on God's earth for 95 years and 3 months, the Angel of the Lord appeared to Maudell Archibald and declared that she had kept the faith, and that she had fought a good fight, and now the Heavenly Father requested her presnce with Him, in the place that He had prepared for her.

On October 16, 1927, Maudell, the last of twelve children was born, in Greene County, Alabama to Jim and Christen Pippen. Only Maudell; brothers: Ray, and Curtis; along with sisters: Mary and Mattie Bell lived to adulthood.

Maudell (affectionately known to some relatives and friends as "Dye") was educated in Green, County school system. She, along with her friend Ms. Carrie L. Banks, were among the first students to attend the "Bedella's School of Cosmotology" in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She became a beautician and ran a hair dressing business for over seventy years.

Maudell gave her heart to God at an early age and attended the Solid Rock Primitive Baptist CHurch in Tuscaloose, Alabama until moving to Los Angeles, California where she attended the Crenshaw Christian Center in the 1980's. She loved Steve Harvey, The LA Dodgers and B.B. King. She also loved to cook, travel, was a talented quilter and try her luck at the casinos.

Maudell was married to Freeman Archibald Jr. and from this union two daughters: Alma Lee and Carbietene were born.

Mrs. Archibald leaves a legacy of love, joy, peace, happiness and precious memories to a loving Stepson Robert Lee Archibald and a Devoted Daughter Alma L. Wynn. Grandchildren: Samuel L. James Jr., Christine K. Ravenell (Maxwell), Marian E. James, Chevida A. James, Wilton W. Wynn (Jennifer), Wesley F. Wynn (Jenny), Great-Grandchildren as well as her beloved in-laws, extended family and friends.

Mrs. Maudell Pippen Archibald (Dye) was preceded in death by her father and mother Jim and Christine Pippen, all eleven of her siblings, her son in law Samuel James Sr. and daughter Carbietene A. James.
